Rush Limbaugh: out of touch with the mainstream

Rush Limbaugh: out of touch with the mainstream

America’s conservative archetype, Rush Limbaugh, has lost touch with the mainstream. Comments he made in 2010 have come back to haunt him. A recent caller to CSPAN reminded America of Rush’s insensitive remarks concerning school lunch programs and their lack of availability during the summer months. Rush stated parents should be feeding their children from home refrigerators or take them to a cheap fast food establishment when schools are closed. In the event those maneuvers did not work children can “dumpster dive” similar to homeless persons. As a conservative, I found his approach to this subject heartless. Yet, there is a more profound problem Rush views everything through a filter, which denies his sight a reality the rest of us see. Many children live within a dysfunctional family structure. Children from these homes may not have food readily available in the refrigerator or someone to give them a dollar for a McDonald’s meal, as Rush Suggested. School lunch programs provide the nutrients millions of children would not receive otherwise. Apparently, his views have not changed over the last three years. Rush’s comments on health care are equally incredulous. Through his golden EIB microphone Rush has stated repeatedly that Obamacare is wrong for the nation, yet his belief that everyone has equal access to medical services is a farce. Wealthy individuals obtain health care with the speed of thought, the rest of us wait in line. Rush is having a tenuous relationship with conservatism. He lives in his self-created Elysium, which prevents him from seeing the suffering many of us must bear under from a regime that is literally destroying the nation. There is no doubt that Rush has been a bellwether of conservative views for nearly 25, but father time may have paid him a visit. Perhaps this is the time Rush should bow out gracefully and hand over his microphone to one of his younger contemporaries. The World does not revolve around parties anymore, only around people. In the event Rush has a reawakening, he must realize this fact and help the masses with substance, which his daily allotment of verbiage leaves out. As an avid listener of his program, I hope he makes the right decision. Mark Davis MD. Conservative media: a Liberal's best friend

Conservative media: the Liberals best friend

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levine and others who carry the flag of conservative media may have inadvertently helped the President regain the White House. Incessantly hammering the President on every issue, from the indecent to the superficial, may have had paradoxical effects not realized by the craftsmen behind their microphones. Fox network, under the auspices of Sean Hannity and others, repeatedly re-aired commercials that the Democrats concocted and aired in selective markets in their effort to present certain perspectives. Fox’s audience reach is exponentially greater than the original target markets for these very negative presentations against Republicans. Hence, without paying one dime, the Democrats found their message reaching millions of homes not the smaller audience to which they were originally released. Conservative media believes the majority of those who tune in are conservative, that may not be the case. Day after day and night after night the cadre of conservative minds pounced on Big Bird, birth control, Planned Parenthood, immigration and more which alienated many to favor the Democrat cause. The conservative script was the same no matter where you tuned in. Big Bird’s show produced partially with public funds was an infinitesimally small issue that Romney should have never exposed. Planned Parenthood, an association that helps millions of women with gynecological issues that extend far beyond abortion, was the subject of intense scrutiny by the right. The idiocy to lambaste such an organization is beyond the scope of words that I can present here. Birth control was made a cause celebre by Rush and others inadvertently providing more fuel for which the libs could use against the opposing party. On immigration, several decades have gone by without resolving this important issue. Obama’s backdoor Executive Order allowing illegals to stay under certain conditions resonated well with the Hispanic community. Romney was checkmated on this issue months before he became the candidate of choice. The Republicans had no counter offer, but railed against immigration anyway with the media following suit. Foreign policy and the economy took a backseat to these less important campaign issues. Obamacare’s true detrimental effects on medical services were never properly presented by a media that does not understand its true nature. Romney avoided many discussions on the fine points of Obamacare because it mimicked his own legislation which he inflicted on the Bay State. Conservative media, knowingly or not, helped in Obama’s reelection. Do they stand to gain financially from an Obama second term?  Rush, Levine and others who push the conservative word will benefit handsomely by Romney’s election loss. The President’s penchant to generate a new controversy daily is good for business because it increases audience participation. A larger audience brings in more advertising revenue. America lost on Election Day, yet paradoxically conservative media won. Mark Davis, MD. www.healthnetsreviewservices.com

Rush Limabugh: America's political barometer

Rush Limbaugh: America’s political barometer

Left wing media continues to condemn Rush Limbaugh for explaining and defining the perversions Democrat operatives spew daily. Rush’s sensibilities enable him to quickly douse the malicious fires set by a group that lost its moral center decades ago. With a climate of hate generated by President Obama and inflamed by his minions in Congress Rush’s huge audience receive a quick response to the profound inaccuracies scripted by these demoralized individuals. Lying has been brought to the level of an art form under the present administration with the truth always trailing its perpetrator. Rush pulls from his stacks news that portends to be topical for that day. Harry Reid’s mystifying announcement from his Senate pulpit that Mitt Romney has not paid any taxes in the last ten years deserved an immediate response from the master of verbal karate. Reid’s unsubstantiated comments were in character for a man Rush had pointed out numerous times was a fraud. A sharp rebuke from EIB headquarters shook the very foundation of the Senate chambers. Cleverly planted callers try to entrap this golden tongued individual to no avail. Rush can sense a liberal before he/she gets passed the first sentence. Conservatism is Rush’s brand and he is very good at delineating its component parts. Long before the ink was dry on Obama’s piece de resistance, Obamacare, Rush smelled the stench of backdoor politics maneuvering to pass this monstrosity, though the majority of Americans were against it. Over two years later that stench has only become worse as this newest entitlement heads towards fruition. Twenty four years after he uttered his first conservative thought over the airways Rush’s message is now amplified by over six hundred affiliates who are eager to be part of the EIB team. Controversy has done little to dent his listenership or wallet. He utters the truth each weekday afternoon setting the stage for the nighttime crawlers who inhabit the left. These vermin in turn provide us a glimpse of a mindset full of hate and insecurity which Rush reconfigures for our amusement the next day. Rush is the bellwether of ideas that can make America whole again. His Ph.D in honesty, with a minor in decency, causes shudders through a community full of miscreants, anti-traditionalists and anarchists whose sole purpose in life is to undermine America. Rush Limbaugh is truly America’s political barometer and his predictions could not be more accurate. Do America and yourself a favor vote conservative this November and relieve the pressure on all of us. Mark Davis MD, author of Demons of Democracy. platomd@gmail.com
