Trayvon Martin: the aftermath

Trayvon Martin: the aftermath

America’s conscience was awakened the day George Zimmerman’s six member jury found him innocent. A properly empowered jury of six women heard reams of evidence from both sides of the aisle and decided for the defense. Vindication of Zimmerman may have been a pyrrhic victory. A diverse group of individuals has concluded Zimmerman is guilty by fiat. Many who claim to speak for the Afro-American community deny the results of this trial as an invalid representation of the facts and call for further justice for the deceased Martin. Tens of thousands are crying out that Martin’s Civil Rights were violated. Investigations by numerous law enforcement authorities in Florida found no basis for the claim. Federal Bureau of Investigation explored the possibility the shooting was race based. After an extensive inquiry they found no element of racism could be attributed to Zimmerman’s interlude with Martin. Eric Holder, the federal Attorney General, was not moved by the jury’s verdict or the multiple investigations relinquishing Zimmerman from racial motivations. Holder’s Department of Justice has opened its own investigation to appease a contingent of people who survive on keeping racism alive amongst their flock. These masters of rhetorical nonsense have called for protests throughout the country to reconcile the jury verdict with the reality they believe actually happened. To spike the flames of racial hatreds further President Obama has thrown himself into the mix. His contorted statements drive home the fact that he questions the legal basis of the verdict. Numerous arrests, some caused by violent acts, have occurred in many jurisdictions. A more profound issue is media management of this debacle. Misrepresenting elements of the Zimmerman case were the norm in left-wing media outlets. NBC doctored voice recordings of Zimmerman to give the impression racism was a key element  the night Trayvon was killed. Overwhelming evidence moves the subject in another direction. Eric Holder’s intervention provides another glimpse how the Justice Department bases its decisions on community emotions not facts. In the event Holder’s Department of Justice manufactures a Civil Rights case against Zimmerman, it will be Zimmerman’s Civil Rights on trial not Trayvon Martin’s. If this case comes to fruition, Eric Holder should be the next person to be placed on trial for subverting clearly written law. George Zimmerman's Pyrrhic Victory

George Zimmerman’s Pyrrhic Victory

Recently a Florida jury found George Zimmerman, the alleged murderer of Trayvon Martin, guiltless. Through political pressures, a mock trial in a kangaroo courtroom was held. Evidence was heavily weighted against the prosecution, yet they believed a moral imperative drove them to move ahead with this factitious case. Suggestions that the court was influenced by the Obama Administration to find any means to obtain a guilty verdict may have some legs. Prosecutors withheld pictures of Zimmerman’s beaten face from the defense. Judge Debra Nelson was less than kind to the defense attorneys and Zimmerman during this mock trial. Now that six jurors have found Zimmerman not guilty, based on a plethora of evidence in his favor, the afro-American community is seeking civil rights charges against him. Attorney General Eric Holder is searching for any means to bring these charges about. This case was never about race. FBI studied the actions surrounding Trayvon’s death and concluded race was not a factor. Media outlets, especially those leaning left, exploited this case to steer it in that direction. NBC edited recordings juggling Zimmerman’s voice to give the appearance he pursued Trayvon because of his Afro-American heritage. For this outright lie and other misrepresentations, Zimmerman has sued NBC. Now, the  hard part comes for him, survival.

Protests have erupted in many cities condemning the jury’s findings. Stirring the pot is Al Sharpton and his colleagues with hateful speeches, which squelch the true-facts in this case. Violent acts have occurred resulting in arrests in New York City, California and other locales. The Drama continues as the left-wing media continues to claim the circumstances surrounding Zimmerman’s actions were purely raced based and not self-defense. Sports figures and other celebrities have chimed in with perspectives that do not play well for Zimmerman. The charade this case is based on racism has even reached into the dark corridors and disturbed minds in the Obama Administration. The President has called for calm knowing his words will have a paradoxical effect on the crowds. The rule of law holds no value to these protesters and government officials unless they need its aegis to protect themselves. Al Sharton sought cover in the law many times when it was convenient for him. Sharpton’s present actions will fortify race hatreds and hurt many, but he continues to pound his fists for civil rights violation against the former defendant.   Zimmerman needs to find shelter away from the light of the media. Some have called for his death, others would like to see him hurt in some manner or form. My question to the public is: How would you have managed an attacker if he or she was pounding your head against concrete, had broken your nose, caused the rear of your head to bleed profusely and given you a possible concussion? Zimmerman case: a mock trial in a kangaroo court

Zimmerman case: a mock trial in a Kangaroo court

George Zimmerman’s mock trial continues in a kangaroo courtroom within the boundaries of Sanford Florida. Prosecution witnesses are making the case for Zimmerman’s attorneys, who are picking them apart one by one. Plaintiff witnesses appear unprepared, ill-informed to subject matters under discussion and deceptive on cross examination. Prosecutors have a mountain of exculpatory evidence, which displays Zimmerman’s innocence. Yet an orchestrated rush to judgment by media moguls and an out of control Department of Justice caused this mock trial to go forward. Trayvon Martin’s death is a tragedy no doubt, but the fraudulent substance of this case should never have seen the inside of a courtroom. Trayvon Martin’s parents have profited handsomely from this egregious event, receiving a multiple million dollar settlement from the community where he died. Neither guilt nor innocence were on the minds of community leaders when they forked out the money. Instead, reprisal in some format was their greatest fear.  Martin’s parents continue their travels to receive support, while the case is still hot.

Race has been the central core of this prosecution. Plaintiff’s attorneys have stumbled in their attempts to flood the jury’s ears with any element of race they could bring to bear in this case. The ugliness of the prosecutions overreach to find an innocent man guilty goes to a deeper issue, plaintiff attorneys manufactured a racial issue to move this case forward, enabled by the media. In the event the prosecution had one ounce of honesty within its legal team they would have stated Zimmerman’s lack of knowledge of Trayvon’s race. As a reminder this horrific event occurred in the early evening hours of the 26th of February 2012. Darkness was encroaching the area involved, accompanied by rain. George Zimmerman initiated his ill-fated follow of Trayvon without any preconceived notion of his race. Crime in the community was on an upswing and neighborhood watch groups were attempting to get a handle on the problem. In Zimmerman’s mind Trayvon appeared suspicious and he followed him. The rest is history. The Department of Justice forced a case based on race down Florida’s proverbial throat. In essence, the Justice Department and Eric Holder are on Trial.  With their win at all costs attitude Zimmerman’s innocence is secondary. Accusing Zimmerman of a racial hate crime, when all the facts point in another direction, displays a Department of Justice that has no sense of righteousness or morality. When George Zimmerman wins this case and he will, Holder should be forced to relinquish his position. Unfortunately, Holder has immunity from prosecution, yet he deserves the same legal wrath he brought to bear on Zimmerman. People Magazine: A loss of integrity

People Magazine: a loss of integrity

People Magazine’s most recent cover displays an image of Trayvon Martin approximately two years into his second decade. This deliberate distortion is enhanced by provocative verbiage intended to stir racial tensions in communities already ripe for violence. When Trayvon was killed his reported body dimensions were that of a 6 foot 2 inch male weighing 170 pounds, not the diminutive person seen on the cover of this once relevant piece of trash. Fueling racial hatreds are scores of individuals who have used every means available to them in an attempt to start a race war. People magazine’s decision to run an old photo of a young Trayvon Martin adds to the chorus of those who want street justice outside the civil domain. Oprah, Obama, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and many more are now on the same page exploiting a tragedy for their own benefits. Information is trickling out from many sources that Al Sharpton’s version of events, surrounding this tragic death, are inconsistent with a reality that has yet to be fully verified. People magazine and other trash media have sent their best reporters out to spin this news story to a format that has no legs. Who initiated the assault is the question of the day! Did the purported gunman, George Zimmerman, have probable cause to fire his weapon or is he the murderer the enumerated gang wants to believe. Sharpton has several deaths attributed to his race hustling past. These gruesome murders were connected to Sharpton’s activities during racial protests in New York City. He’s back with a herd of recruits to inflame passions over a case that has not been fully reviewed. People magazine, in its desperate attempt to stay relevant, paradoxically has become the antithesis of its own intent. Perhaps they should have published a picture of George Zimmerman when he was 12 alongside Trayvon Martin’s image to bring balance to their reporting. They chose not to. People magazine’s integrity was never stellar now the rest of the light has gone out.  Mark Davis MD, President of Healthnets Review Services, platomd@gmail.com

Trayvon Martin's long walk to justice

Trayvon Martin’s long walk to justice

Race hustlers by the dozens have chimed in concerning the horrific death of a young Afro-American male on February 26, 2012 in Sanford Florida. Energized by this chorus of the lost media icons have resonated with their own spin on this tragedy, condemning the purported trigger man before all the facts have surfaced. Echoes of the Duke Lacrosse incident reverberate through many minds as the call for George Zimmerman’s incarceration grows louder. Mr. Zimmerman was performing neighborhood watch duties on the fateful night of Trayvon Martin’s death. Rain fell during the period Mr. Zimmerman followed Mr. Martin through the streets of the community now at the center of this national tragedy. Ambiguities arise to the exact elements of the confrontation between these two individuals. Details have a way of being spun. In this case, they have given many vertigo. Do the names Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan gyrate in your memory circuits? They have come back from the dead having been disgraced by their actions during the Duke Lacrosse debacle. The woman they defended in that case, before all the facts were in, went on to cruelly murder an individual whose only crime was he met her. Trayvon, from all the descriptions we have of him, stood much higher in the steps of life than these self-severing remnants of a past that should be buried. Recently an eye witness to the events of this tragedy has come forward with a story that may corroborate Zimmerman’s account of that night’s interlude. An altercation may have precipitated the discharge of a firearm causing the death of this unarmed teen. Once the witness has a chance to be vetted more thoroughly this case may take another spin. It was inevitable that Geraldo Rivera would attempt to capture some of the publicity surrounding this tragic event. Self-serving maneuvers are always at the core of Geraldo’s news pieces. This time he blundered by stating the hoodie Trayvon Martin wore may have contributed to the intensity that resulted in the tragedy in which we are aware. Wherever borderline media figures go at retirement, Geraldo should move there expeditiously. Our race hustling industry has called for street demonstrations and violent actions if the “facts” do not lead to the justice they want. Similar to the barbaric expletives annunciated during the Duke Lacrosse incident, Sharpton and the gang are back in the streets stirring up whatever trouble they can. Trayvon Martin deserves justice if the facts support the conclusion that he was a victim of Zimmerman’s overzealous actions that horrific night. In event the facts move this case in an alternate direction justice should move with it. Mark Davis MD, author of Demons of Democracy. platomd@gmail.com
